Dennis Magee and I hit it off immediately. Number one he is an herpetologist and number two he is a fascinating character all by himself. Dennis became a builder just so he could build cages for his reptile collection. He was born and raised in Norwood OH. There (as a teenager) he had the world's largest crocodilian collection with 19 of 21 species and sub species. 

He also had the world's largest collection of rattlesnakes species and sub species. In fact one of the first things Ken showed me was his pet rattlesnake that is about six feet long.  "He keeps the burglars out."  I was shocked;  I hadn't even noticed it was a male snake until Ken said that.

He also has what may well be the world's largest collection of Civil War books.  What interested me most though were the old one-of-a-kind pictures he has of Hot Springs.  

When he came to Hot Springs the first person Dennis got to know was Hill Wheatley.
