You'll love the Great Plains Country Travel Guide.  "The immense prairie of Southwest Oklahoma once teemed with wildlife - massive herds of buffalo grazed on the thick grass, huge flocks of migratory birds frequented vast wetland areas. Many of the species were threatened with extinction; but through careful conservation, buffalo once again roam the plains of the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge white pelicans and sand hill cranes are among the visitors to thousands of acres reclaimed from agricultural use in the Hackberry Flats Wetland Restoration Project. Scenic Cordell, Oklahoma was founded in 1892 as a result of the opening of lands made available from the Cheyenne-Arapaho land run of the same year. Framed by the historic County Courthouse, Cordell has one of the few virtually intact town squares in Oklahoma. In addition, Washita County has developed a nationwide reputation for its productive agricultural land and beautiful prairie. The recreational ponds and lakes that sprinkle this landscape can be bountiful for fishermen and water enthusiasts alike.

Cordell (and) Cloud Chief.  Every town should have a John C. McCornack grow up there.  This is the kind of home pages which make an area come alive. This page is in fact some of the best writing I have run across on the web, save for the editing.
