Robbers Cave
Heads up and Hands Out!

As in any outdoor activity, safety comes first.
Safety includes the team spirit and exercising caution.

This picture was snapped right near the top.

In addition to the 12 mile network of hiking trails there are more than 25 miles of horse trails.  The Equestrian Camp provides 20 unimproved camp sites.  But, by unimproved I mean it has no stables, and no running water. Other than that, the camp is well laid out, flat and accommodating. Pull your trailer in and you are ready to ride as soon as the gate opens.  This is right next to the tenter's camping space  so if you bring your tent along you've got it made in the shade.  Even better, you're equally close to the little store and to the Silver Dollar restaurant with its full menu and catering services.

As I've said a hundred times before, Oklahomans really know how to carve out recreational facilities.  The National Park Service would do well to come here and study the system with every intention of copying it to the smallest detail.  There is a whole lot of truth to the saying of Will Rogers that when the Dust Bowl sent thousands of Oklahomans scurrying to take up residence in California the average IQ of both states went UP.

The Walking Connection is your link to other Oklahoma walking and hiking enthusiasts, local walks, hikes, sponsored events, walk training, special features and special events.
